Would I be even worse if I told you that I still find this hilarious, even though this is the illustration the Editor couldn't print with this line? We actually kept the illustration but he changed the line a tiny bit and I have to admit it's a bit more civil now.
While we're talking about educational standards: My very authoritative teaching style (consisting of coaxing, wheedling and pleading) culminated in a rather interesting exchange today.
My real life university students (who respect, fear and honor me) were working on collages, creating a 'creature' of some sort or other. One of the girls was leafing through Vogue and chatting with her neighbor. I only overheard the word 'Monchhichi'. Do you remember Monchhichis? They were going out of fashion when I was little, I remember.
I looked up and asked 'do they still exist?'
'Of course they do, Miss Freund.' Then she looked me over and said 'not in real life, though.'
Now that we've established that I look like somebody who believes Monchhichis really exist, we'll just have to see what her next grade will be, won't we?
